The Social Venture Management GmbH is the initiator of the first international investing Social Venture Capital Fund in Germany. It was founded as a social enterprise in 2010. The aim of the company is to provide broad solutions for social change through the combination of entrepreneurial energy and a success orientated investment approach.
The challenge
Many important social and ecological problems cannot - or at least not efficiently - be solved through government actions. Traditional companies and investors often lack the compatibility of incentives to face social challenges in an adequate manner.
SOCIAL BUSINESSES, in contrast, strive for creative, market orientated solutions to face ecological and social problems, which continue to function should sponsorship through charity organizations run dry. A lack of understanding for the attractiveness of social ventures still deters many investors.
Patient and intelligent capital for a social change
As social investors we identify exceptional social entrepreneurs and support them with financial assets and infrastructure. Through making focused investments rather than donations, we strive for both financial and social returns on investment. Invested capital should be preserved to make new investments possible again in the future. In that way only the power of the capital and not the capital itself is used for a positive impact.
With a strong team of entrepreneurs, investment experts and supporters from both science and commercial backgrounds, we work on our contribution for social change on a daily basis.
History of foundation
The Social Venture Fund was initiated by Johannes Weber and founded together with the experienced entrepreneurs Dr. Monika Roell (former owner of the Hugendubel Publishing House) and Sylvie Mutschler (Mutschler Real Estate AG, Mutschler Ventures). SEE PROFILES
The aim of the founding team was the creation of solutions for positive social change, which is not dependent on traditional donations, but rather on a structured and market-orientated approach. Through affiliated organizations and individuals the Social Venture Fund creates a unique network, which shares the common approach that the solution for many social problems is entrepreneurial creativity, energy and the willingness to perform.
